Photovoltaic panels
Types of cells
The basis of photovoltaic panel are single cells. They are grouped into one panel and joined. Enforcement of panel is then based on the amount and type of individual cells.
For the production electricity are used silicon cells. According the processing we divide cells on amorphous, polycrystalline and monocrystalline.
Monocrystalline cells (panels)
They are made from silicon crystal, they have the highest effectivity of all silicon cells. Their disadvantage is worse layout in the panel, therefore effectivity is similar to polycrystalline cells. Their effectivity is from 12% to 16%.
Polycrystalline cells (panels)
They are made from silicon crystalline latice, they have square shape – easier layout within production panel. Their effectivity is from 12% to 14%.
Amorpohous cells (panels)
Their production consists in application of thin silicon layers on a smooth surface (glass or foil). Advantage of this technology is in lower production price in the conversion to Wp, disadvantage is small effectivity of these panels. To accomplishment same wattage planned power plant is needed twice more space than in the case using monocrystalline or polycrystalline panels. Their effectivity is from 7% to 8%.
